DICE you tease!
As DICE and EA gear up for the release of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, X360 caught up with executive producer on the project, Karl-Magnus Trodesson, to ask about DICE's future and the possibility of a Mirror's Edge sequel...
"I can't really comment on that because we haven't officially announced that we're working on it" explains Karl. "But we were very happy and proud of Mirror's Edge one as a studio, so we are thinking about what we are going to ...
Get rid of any thoughts of a 'next-gen', it's not going happen!
CES has already provided us with a Natal release date and the new Games Room social gaming network for Live, but Microsoft has been quick to shoot down any talk of a new generation of consoles.
Speaking at CES, senior director of Xbox product management, David Hufford had this to say about the 360 2:
"I think it's important to say that the Xbox 360 is the console of the long future ...
How much Mass Effect can you handle?
It comes as no surprise to hear that Bioware, upon completion of Mass Effect 2 (out in a few weeks), started work right away on its sequel, that just makes sense. But, you may be playing as Shepard far sooner than you would have first thought. In an interview over on IGN, project manager Casey Hudson confirms that the final part of the trilogy is well and truly under way and fans should expect a ...
"No. There is another..."
The rumor mill is back in full swing as word goes around that a new Star Wars game is to be announced at this years VGAs. What on earth could this mystery Star Wars game be? The Force Unleashed 2? A new Jedi Knight? Surely not a Jar Jar RPG? Whatever your guess, we've got our money on Star Wars Battlefront III.
Though Pandemic has gone the way of the ...
Bad news everyone!
In what has to be the worst news of the month so far, rumours have begun spreading from a post over on Kotaku that EA has closed Pandemic Studios. Pandemic is currently working on The Saboteur, which has recently been finished, and made its name making big blockbuster games. Star Wars: Battlefront and the Mercenaries games were the sort of destruction-heavy titles that it specialised in, and its output rarely dropped below excellent. The less said about The Lord ...
Rockstar Vancouver's Bully is an X360 favourite. Actually, I'm lying – Bully is a Samuel Roberts favourite, since I'm one of about three people in our entire building who have played the open world adventure, following schoolkid Jimmy Hopkins in the difficult educational environment of Bullworth Academy. Imagine my delight, then, when the first game's composer, Shawn Lee, raised the possibility of a sequel in a recent interview.
On your marks... get set... go!
Forza 3 developer, Turn 10, has been responding to a whole host of allegations recently, and at the same time has been making some quite astounding statements of its own.
Since the release of the Forza 3 demo onto Xbox Live, the general consensus of the Internet (read, forum bloggers) is that the game isn’t quite up to snuff in terms of its visuals. The inevitable comparisons with Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo 5, or Prologue to be ...
TGS kicks off and the industry shows its support for Project NATAL
The Tokyo Game Show has well and truly kicked off today (yesterday if you’re actually out there, it’s like time travel!) and Microsoft has come out all guns blazing. The big M hosted an impressive roundtable discussion talking over the potential that Project NATAL has and the sorts of games developers will be able to make.
They also took this opportunity to list all the developers that have pledged allegiance, sorry, ...
Know what I'm excited about more than anything? The possibility of a new Star Wars: Battlefront game. After a bunch of weird images of a 'Dark' Obi-Wan were leaked to various news outlets, earlier in the year, while footage of a proposed 3rd game in the series by Free Radical was released on YouTube, my anticipation was piqued. Sadly, it was at this time that Free Radical bit the dust – last week, though, LucasArts talked about the possibility of a new next-gen title in the series for the first time in ages.
The advent of 3D films hitting the big screen has sparked a fire under the games industry and, as developers and publishers rush to make their mark, it seems 3D is the one area Sony could actually trump Microsoft.
Rumours flying around the web over the last few days have brought to light the potential 3D has for the entertainment industry. Not only games, but films are all making the leap to 3D. James Cameron's Avatar is a perfect case in point ...
An original game from LucasArts will be revealed on this week's Game Trailers TV, according to host Geoff Keighley's Twitter feed. I have an inkling – let's say, a guess, in case I look stupid in a few days – of what that might be.
It must be really difficult for developers of successful videogames. As soon as their mega hit is off the cards people automatically assume that they're working on the sequel and while that maybe the case it doesn't necessarily mean they're talking about it...
So, it always falls to people like Bethesda's Pete Hines, who it seems spends the majority of his time telling people that an Elder Scrolls sequel is still a long way off, so stop asking! It must be especially ...
Releasing a back catalogue on Steam is, admittedly, a huge deal for publishers. It's opening up another source of income, and, best of all, so many of the users on the service will nostalgically lap it up through misty eyes. That especially applies if you're LucasArts.
Chatting to a Sony PR about the possibility of a sequel to not-so-great PS3 action exclusive Heavenly Sword, late last year, I was told that the developers – Ninja Theory, not Team Ninja, though I'm sure there's some inspiration in there somewhere – had 'gone multi-platform'. Today, I decided to look at their site to shed light on what they're doing next.
