Oh, LucasArts you do know how to win us over...
We've not tried to hide the fact that pretty much every person on team X360 is a massive fan of the old point and click Monkey Island adventure games. It was a dream come true when LucasArts HD'd up the original and let it loose over Live. It seems most of you agreed with us and now we're happy to report that the sequel, Le Chuck's Revenge will be available later ...
Sonic 4. Sonic 4. How many years we've longed to type that title into a search engine and actually have it come up with something…
Those of you who picked up Bayonetta at the weekend (a fair old few, I'd wager, based on its no.5 position in the all-formats charts) may have noticed that the game also doubles as a tribute to Japanese software giants Sega and Capcom. Have you picked up on any references, familiar music and visual motifs from old games by the two companies? Here's a few that we spotted...
Rather than starting the year with a post about what budget Live Arcade title will drop from that great orifice in the sky this week…
It's about time we got some classics
If you're anything like us you will have lapped up the recent remake of The Secret Of Monkey Island when the special edition was released on XBLA. Now that the first one is out the door it's clear the popularity of LucasArt's back catalogue of point and click adventures is as high as ever. With that in mind we give you our top 5 adventure games that we want remade or at least made available ...
Infinity Ward's first baby steps...
Fans of the recently released Modern Warfare 2 may not be aware that Infinity Ward's first real foray into the FPS world was with the Medal Of Honor series. Or, more specifically, the first PC game in the franchise, Medal Of Honor: Allied Assault. After the game's success, a number of its developers split and went on to form Infinity Ward, and the rest, as they say, is history....
Modern Warfare 2 may nearly be upon us, but let's take a look at the game that started it all on the 360...
I realise that Infinity Ward has had quite a bit of coverage of late on our fair website, but as the excitement builds towards Modern Warfare 2’s release it’s fascinating to take a look back to the first iteration of the series on the then next-gen.
Call Of Duty 2 was ...
I don't have the rabid love of Halo that the majority of Xbox devotees presumably possess ("u dnt lk hlo cs u twt"), but I have immense respect for the series. While the second and third games never captured my imagination, due, in large part to weak single-player campaigns and an overt focus on online multiplayer (a feature that, due to 99% of morons flushing a toilet next to their headset and calling me 'gay', I mostly avoid), the first remains my favourite FPS of all time.
Sometimes you just have to wonder whether you're getting a little curmudgeonly in your old age. With review code for Colin McRae: DiRT 2 and Need For Speed: Shift flying around our office like the vehicles contained therein, thoughts turn to the argument I've been pursuing for some time now. Namely, what exactly do gimmicks such as blurred vision and power-ups add to the racing genre?
It's not that I'm particularly ...
Alert readers will be aware that Sega recently ran an online poll as to which games from the Mega Drive era it should revive for today's E-number jazzed audience. Up for voting were Earthworm Kim, Shining Force, Revenge Of Shinobi, Golden Axe II and Wonder Boy, Streets Of Rage and ToeJam& Earl. Of course, our alien friends won the day, and Earthworm Jim's coming out regardless, but in reality the list was flawed. Why? Because this lot weren't on it:
5) World ...
Take a trip with us down Memory Lane as we look at some of the very best guns throughout gaming’s history. We may all have very different ideas of what constitutes a great gun, but here are some of X360’s favourite weapons to shoot up the joint with…
1. The BFG 9000
Well it couldn’t be any other than the Big F***ing Gun, the granddaddy of blowing crap up.
2. Cerebral Bore
Big drill, meet brain. Brain meet big drill. You two are going to ...
Sometimes it's difficult to believe what's going on before your very eyes. While Sam sits playing Batman: Arkham asylum to my right, the rest of team X360 seems fixated with the Tiger Game.Com, a system that feels only one step removed from playing games on a calculator. Featuring a touch screen matrix whose functions are basically 'on' and 'off' and a catalogue including blurry versions of Resident Evil 2 and Fighters Megamix, who could resist? Well it is 'reasonably playable' when ...
Capcom have finally announced a release date for the fan favourite Marvel vs Capcom 2: July 29th
It's being released alongside Microsoft's Summer Of Arcade promotion, so it'll be released along with many other Xbox Live Arcade games of particular merit. This is certainly the crowning jewel in the summer of releases though and if this is a game that has so far passed you by you really owe it to yourself to check it out....
We've all done it, sat there guiltily reaching for our wallets as we click on the 'BUY NOW' link or shiftily edging our way to the counter of our local game emporium, knowing full well that the game we are about to buy is far too expensive and we really should think of something more worth while to spend our hard earned pennies on. But no matter how much money you've spent on games over the last year, we bet it's ...
It's no secret that we're fans of the Monkey Island games here on X360. We all pretty much grew up playing at least one of them and we all had a little bit of a celebration (plus some grog) when we heard the news that it was making its way to Live in the form of a special edition revamped version. How long have we dreamed of this moment?!
Well, it's release is finally upon us and we've had a chance to ...
