Why Super Mario Galaxy 2 would be better on 360
Super Mario Galaxy 2 is, by all accounts, an absolute classic, generally being to ten out of tens what cake is to fat kids. There’s only one problem. It’s on the Wii. Still, we can but dream, and offer some reasons as to why this near flawless gem would be even better on our beloved machine…
Well, it would just look better…
Yes, we know that moaning about the Wii’s graphics is akin to flogging a deceased steed, but it’s still a valid point, because, and this is a big one, it’s not 2003 anymore. Time, eh? It’s a bit of a drug. Anyway, Super Mario Galaxy 2, it must be said, already looks pretty good, but imagine it in HD. Go on. Close your eyes and have a good old think, and when you’re done, get nice and angry about the fact that Nintendo chose to make their latest console out of two GameCubes strapped together with a bit of masking tape.
A sense of achievement
Listen, don’t kid yourselves into thinking that you don’t care about achievements. You do. We know you do, because you’re an empty husk of a person who validates themselves with needless, crass, digital self-congratulatory fellation via the many asinine avenues afforded by the internet (but we still love you). Mario Galaxy 2 has more stars and collectibles than ever before, and yet what are you going to do when you collect all of these? Be happy, safe in the knowledge that you have achieved something? Ha. No one cares about being internally happy anymore, it’s all about transient braggadocchio, which is why we need achievements in our Mario.
Co-operation is key
Forget that ‘one player plays as the pointer’ co-op nonsense that Nintendo are foisting upon their army of infants, ‘soccer moms’ and geriatrics. We could be looking at one of the greatest games of this generation, in full-fledged co-op with actual on-screen avatars, over the magic of Xbox Live rather than draconian, internet-fearing Friend Code system that seems to have been implemented solely due to the Brass Eye-esque paranoid delusion that the internet can, if unattended, actually eat children.
So there it is, three reasons why Super Mario Galaxy would be better on 360. Or, for that matter, any system not designed as some sort of cipher for pouring mostly banal gaming experiences into the eyes of unsuspecting biddies.

well, we can dream, mario and zelda shouldnt have to be dragged down with the rest of nintendo, it will ruin them, you know what they say nintendo, if you love something, set it free.
Lol, I honestly don’t care about my achievements. The only stuff I play in games is storyline.
There are plenty of Wii games that would be better on the Xbox 360, but I’m not convinced for a second that Super Mario Galaxy 2 is one of them.
@bomby
As much as I dislike how weak the Wii is, Mario and Zelda have hardly been ‘dragged down’ as a result.
Aren’t the last two Mario games, uh, the highest rated games of this generation?
And the second and third highest rated games of all time?
“So there it is, three reasons why Super Mario Galaxy would be better on 360. Or, for that matter, any system not designed as some sort of cipher for pouring mostly banal gaming experiences into the eyes of unsuspecting biddies.”
Ah, I was going to point out how the game looks a helluva lot better on the Wii than a brown Unreal 3 cover shooter you’ll all be blowing your loads over in about a week, but then I read this and realized where I was.
Acheivement Points are for simple minded folk who don’t realize that getting handed 20 points for doing some inane task in a poorly designed game is being used as a cheap replacement for actual content and depth.
Don’t piss all over a great franchise on another system because the developer who’s supposed to be making games of this sort on the Xbox 360 hasn’t made a good game since Nintendo let them go.
Lol… cry babies, cry! IT IS ON THE WII AND WILL BE ONLY ON THE WII!
Go play your generic shooter known as Halo or other decadent franchise. Graphics? Uhhhhh Better graphics? Go play 3DS Max instead… or better… go play anything on the PC or PS3… it´s not 2005 anymore, you know? DX9 is gone, DX11 (note, 2 DX ahead of DX9) is the present, so, don´t come to me with this bullshit about graphics.
But, well… I can only laugh at your face, a single game on the wii beat every single game on the X(redlight)box!!!
ROFLMAO!!!!!!
being a 360 site i can understand why its all thats mentioned, but come on i think its safe to say ANY game would be better on ANYTHING other than the wii
Man, while I agree with the graphic bits, I really really couldn’t care less about achievements. It’s the last thing I think about when gaming. Most of the time I play because the story intrigues me (heavy RPG player) or because the game is simply fun… and for me, fun doesn’t include searching for the small details or weird secrets just to get a title.
Also, as a girl-gamer, logging onto Live means I’ll get plenty of “Tits or GTFO” messages, so I avoid it… which voids point #3 too.
So yeah. I think points #1 and #3 might be valid, but in my tally, it’s still better off on the Wii.
Dreaming is fun, until we wake up.
I disagree. Super Mario Galaxy 2 in Wii isn’t a problem; actually, it achieves perfection on that console. Imagine Halo 3 on the PSP. Would be scary. So, SMG2 is what it is BECAUSE of the Wii.
“There’s only one problem. It’s on the Wii.”
No, its not. Then I guess its also a problem because Gears was on the 360 and not on the Wii.
While I agree it would be better if it had achievements, you had to spoil it and went with the pretty graphics and with the kiddy stereotype. If its stereotype then I can say that I can’t finish SMG2 on the 360 because of the RRoD. See where I’m going? Most of your points aren’t that good, except for achievements.
If you’re a real gamer then you should own at least 2 consoles. Best of both worlds.
And every last thing on the 360 would be better on PC. Life works in mysterious ways.
What am I reading? Let’s go through this together, people.
“two GameCubes strapped together with a bit of masking tape.”
-I would pick a quote from the 2nd reason, but actually that’s all full of… ahem, excrement, if I may.
“their army of infants, ’soccer moms’ and geriatrics.”
Where have we heard all of this before? Specifically, who keeps on repeating these sayings? Those who believe the 360 (or PS3, but hey, it has no gaems) is the better of all 3 consoles released on the market so far are those people who would say it. This article is overflowing with fanboyism, and you know what – good for you. Every company should have their dedicated population that will always buy their products. That’s how they make money.
As an owner of all three systems, there’s only one thing I can agree on in this whole post, but not in the same degree as he puts it. Super Mario Galaxy 2 would sure look better in HD. But from what I’ve been playing, I’ve hardly had enough time to care about graphics – I’m too busy enjoying a game and having fun. Graphics are certainly not what games are made for – if you think so, go watch a movie. I heard those graphics are close to real life and it plays itself for you!
The second part is full of… ahem, excrement again, since I’m inclined to keep this comment clean. Achievements!?! Is that what makes you keep on playing games? To earn points to show off your internet wang? I remember back in the old days with the N64 when I had gotten all stars in SM64 and could talk to Yoshi on top of the castle. I knew what I had done was admired by many and achieved by few. If people question it, come to my house. It’s right there on the tube TV. And a reply to the author…
“what are you going to do when you collect all of these? Be happy, safe in the knowledge that you have achieved something?”
Yes, I will be happy. I’ve accomplished what I set my goal to be – to complete the game 100%. Much like how in a job you strive to get a promotion – it’s your own goal. Don’t let companies make your own goals. Set it where you want it to be. Achieve it. Be happy with it.
This second reason disgusts me if you want me to reply truthfully. I don’t care about a system whose only purpose is to give me a false sense of entitlement.
Third point, I’d attack the reasons given by the author of how Nintendo’s online is bad, but knowing there is a degree of truth to that (although what he states is once again repeated by the masses) I will rather reply with a question: What happened to enjoying a single-player experience? Is something wrong with that? Are the people dominated by the multiplayer norm? SMG2 was obviously designed to be a single-player game. I think Nintendo’s idea for the second player was that so he/she would not have to be sitting around watching the game but rather helping out first player. It’s better than lying down on a couch watching someone playing a game, now isn’t it?
So, yeah. Basically the three reasons you put together are none other than your inner-fanboy crying out one of these two things: “This game is really good but I’d feel bad to admit it!” or “The Wii is such a childish system, but this game is really good so it should be on a better console.”
tl;dr, anyone? I’ll sum it up in the easiest way possible.
The 360 has some great games, the Wii has some great games. Trying to tarnish the quality of these games by saying why it would be better on system X just proves how good the game is on its own (since you obviously can’t find any fault with the game besides what system it’s on). Can’t we all just shut up and play our games?
Could you have possibly taken a worse picture of the game?
Here is the game running in the Dolphin Emulator at 720P

Looks amazing and its very obvious Nintendo designed the game to be presented as such on its next system. Would it be nice to have an HD Wii now? Sure it would but we dont so its a tired and old arguement.
Here is the Legend of Zelda: Windwaker in 1080p

Maybe we should complain a Gamecube game wasnt in HD.
no no no no no no no no a thousand times no. it is on the wii for a reason. no no no no no no lol kidding aside though it would be interesting to see mario in hd and who knows maybe when wii 2 comes out we might get a mario galaxy 3 with though said recommendations lul
So your reasons are better graphics, achievements, and online co-op(how?). You realise their is motion involved in the game right?
Sounds like a load of HOOPLA to me.
Seriously though, the graphics are just fine. Mario is single player anyways, and people only need achievements to make up for what they lack. The bigger the gamerscore, the smaller the schlong, I always say.
Xbox Live co-op. Hmm, pay 50$ to not be able to connect to anyone because of a Strict setting on the router, and when you do, it lags/people glitch somehow. Sounds fun, microsoft!
HD Mario would be cool, but if it were to go on a different console than the Wii, the PS3 would be better for the blu-ray discs, to put more/better stuff on the disc.
Anyways, I’m not hating too bad on the Xbox fans, for I myself own a 360. I am merely stating my opinion on this matter.
Lol, I still think “Achievements” are a joke. It’s a video game. You haven’t “Achieved” anything.
Ha!
The XBox360 couldn’t handle that amount of pure unadulterated gameplay. It would spontaneously combust trying to process the genius of Nintendo. Either that or MS would insist on having FPS sections so the “Hardcorezzzzzz” could understand what the hell they were seeing.
1. Graphics don’t make the game
2. If you really need the Xbox to pat you on the head and say “Good Boy!” every time you collect a star, then your not playing the game for the right reasons.
3. Knowing how many retarded 12 year olds are on your Xbox Live, then putting a Mario game intended for kids is one of the worst things you can do.
Mario shouldn’t go to Xbox for 1 simple reason. Nintendo owns it.
Nevermind the fact that there are subtle but important motion controls that really enhance the experience that you can’t do on an Xbox controller (like using the on-screen pointer to collect Star Bits, using the on-screen pointer to control Yoshi’s tongue, shaking the Wiimote to do a spin jump, etc), but the “improvements” suggested by developing it for 360 are all ancillary to the core design of the game. Okay, you could tack on some pointless achievements, but so what? That won’t make the actual level design more or less enjoyable. And the graphics aren’t HD, but its art direction is superb. You would have to compromise the gameplay in order to convert it to the 360 and for what? A higher polygon count? The ability to brag to your friends who don’t care in the first place? No thanks.
lol at 360 fanboys. Buy a damn Wii if you want to play the game. Should I make a post about how every 360 game could be better on the PC. No, so shut up.
Why? So that it can be ignored because it’s not too “mature”?
I think it’s best it stays on Wii. An audience of all ages that loves it, without having to go through the usual hate from the 360 audience, and without being forced to change what it’s all about.
Just look at Rare. Mario is in good hands with Nintendo. Imagine if they tried to make him “mature”….
This article is kinda pathetic. Stop being butt hurt Microsoft fanboys and just enjoy gaming. Every system gets great games. This is one of Nintendo’s. Soon we will have Reach as well as countless others.
And the bit about achievements is even more pathetic. Achievements serve absolutely no purpose except to show this new generation of gamers how to wave their e-penis in the air. It is something a lot of gamers could give a damn less about.
I love how fanboys can post news articles. They never cease to amaze in stupidity.
Those are 3 pretty terrible reasons. A game would be better with achievements? Achievements are nothing more than a tool to drive people to play a game longer. People would be playing Galaxy for a long time regardless of achievements.
HD graphics would be nice, but I don’t think it’d make the game any better. I mean, Mario is already hyper stylised, which, as a result, means it can actually get away with these types of graphics. Time will be kind on it, much like Wind Waker.
As for Co-op. It’s really not a game that entirely lends itself to that mode of play. Adding co-op to everything doesn’t make it better. Sure, it works for bang-bang shooters, and sure, it works for New Super Mario Bros, but I don’t think it’d work for Galaxy 2.
I’d have to disagree with the coop bit. They tried it in NSMBWii and it got too cluttered.
As for Nintendo going under, last I heard they were the top selling video game company in the world
lol xbox fanboys are just butthurt that they don’t have any good exclusives. any good game that’s on xbox360 is also on pc, but better, AND cheaper. xbox360 is such a waste.
…What you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
At least the Wii don’t RRD.
>Implying achievements actually enhance a game
I’m pretty sure you’re being a bit closed-minded here.
The game was built for the Wii, and it does it well. Mario is Nintendo’s thing an always will be, and it’s up to them to do what they want with it. Appreciate it for what it is in all it’s uniqueness instead of turning it into every other stupid game on the xbox marketed to 12 year-olds who want to be cool.
Also, put away the thesaurus. You look like an idiot.
Wow, you must be desperate to start claiming that Mario, out of all other games that exist out there, will be better in the 360. Journalistic integrity must be dead
Oh yes, because know that the Xbox 360 did WONDERS for Sonic the Hedgehog.
hahahahahahahahahahahaha
First of all, good graphics do not a good game make. Nintendo tends to focus more on the gameplay and innovating ideas (or refining old ones to a very enjoyable degree), I’d rather not be subjected to BROWN AND BLOOM. If I want to see amazing, crisp computer graphics, I’d watch a Pixar film. When I play games, I focus on games.
Second… oh good god. Hey, Mario Galaxy 2 does have “achievements”. Do you realize how awesome it felt to finally get that last star? After 40 minutes? That’s because the game went out of it’s way to challenge me and make it enjoyable doing so. Achievement points weren’t around during the Xbox/PS2/Gamecube era, and before then, obviously; yet we still took the time to go through them. Because they were good, and we enjoyed them. That’s all a person needs. When I get through a whole game, that’s my own personal victory, I don’t need to be a jackass and demand the whole world sees it.
Third and final, do you happen to think about the fact that Mario Galaxy 2 is a platforming game, and that having two to four players on screen at the same time would cause a lot of problems in getting through tough obstacles? Nintendo has already explored this in New Super Mario Brothers for the Wii. Granted, that was a load a fun, and they implemented it well. But for a 3D game such as this, I think they were more focused on not having a bunch of people kicking each other off of pits and into enemies, and instead making it a solid, refined challenge for one person to go through. Not everything is improved when you slap co-op on it; you have to take that into account from the very beginning, when you design stages.
Or was this a joke post? I’m sorry, I think it was. Boy I felt dumb. I guess the internet is ruining my sense of irony.
XBOX 360 gamers are just jealous of other console exclusives. When XBOX is having a weak year, they brag about how other console exclusives would be better on the 360. XBOX may have more games but they don’t compare in quality to other console exclusives. So please keep your fantasies to yourselves. A solution would be to go buy a Wii and play Super Mario Galaxy 2 on it.
Good job. Enjoy your achievements.
1) I can agree with. I like playing good looking games. The 360 can better that. But, the game still looks quite nice as is. For it’s art style of course.
But, I have to completely disagree with…
2) So, your e-peen/self respect isn’t high enough and you need achievements to make yourself feel better? Rent Barbie Truck Rally 3 if you need a bigger e-peen. Some people actually have self worth to 100% a game for the sake of 100%ing a game.
3) Durr, I want multiplayer on a single player game. Please think of a better 3rd reason. Nintendo stuck that on so people watching could be of use. This argument is invalid.
Please rethink your argument. You aren’t a 12-year old. So please do your research like a grownup.
But if it was on the XBox 360, it would probably involve space marines, guns, and a lot less color in favor of the color brown.
There’s a reason it’s on the Wii. This is Nintendo’s territory, and crying about their console doesn’t make them want to hand over their golden ticket that is Mario.
The Wii sells massive amounts more than the 360… Nintendo must be doing something right over there…
Was there a point to this article?
How would you intend to grab those blue stars in the picture above?
>Mario and Zelda drug down by Nintendo.
You realize that Nintendo has the majority of the market and makes the most money.
It also would have been better on the PS3 and PC, but it is Nintendo game! Until Nintendo is out of business no other platform will have it. I think we all know it would’ve been better on any other current-day system.
Uh no. Not everyone cares about achievements. If you get off to online digital bloops telling you that you achieved something, then you must have very low self esteem. That, or you just want them to brag, which detriments the enjoyability of the game and makes you look like an asshat.
I am fine with the graphics, they run smooth, and gameplay is all that matters(before you say anything, I have all consoles and a gaming PC that I built myself). Also, it’s a refreshing break from all the GENERIC SHOOTING games of the 360 and PS3. Go ahead, name some xbox exclusives that are platformers/adventure games that aren’t shooters, racers, or sport games. There’s not that many.
Anyways, each console has its own ups, downs, and exlusives. If you’re complaining about why a game should be on your favorite console, then get a job, make money, and buy yourself the console with the game you want. Stop using your mom’s money.
“Yes, we know that moaning about the Wii’s graphics is akin to flogging a deceased steed, but it’s still a valid point, because, and this is a big one, it’s not 2003 anymore.”
No, in this case, it’s more akin to complaining about a unicorn, because you want it to look more like a horse.
Pssshhh…. like microsoft would even bother to make it run natively in full hd anyways, only a handfull of games currently run in full hd on the 360.
if you really want to see SMG look nice run it with 6xAA on a wii emulator for pc.
Achievements are nice and all, but I honestly dont miss them when playing my wii as opposed to my 360 or pc. I really couldent care more than a shoulder shrug about them. achievements are just… meh.
I wouldent want co-op to be any more complicated than it already is. As it is currently its really easy for my girlfriend to get into, understan, and enjoy with me. whenever im playing solo, I have not once really wished that i could have someone online join me.
thats my view on things.
Personally, I think Mario would do better on the 360. But one game that DOES belong on the Wii is Halo. Since it’s a shooter, it’s more fit for the Wii’s control. I’m not going to explain why since it’s obvious. Hell, every shooter on the 360 should be on Wii. It would be better. Way better. Maybe more people would buy Too Human.
I disagree with all points.
Graphics look nice, but for a children’s cartoony mario game, graphics are unimportant. It looks nice enough for the design.
Achievements can be nice, but as a general rule they are just filler to make you try to complete all of the little parts of the game.
Mario is a fairly linear so there would be a lot of the types of achievements nobody likes, the ones you get by just playing the game, not doing anything out of the ordinary or complicated.
Achievement unlocked! World 1 completed!
Achievement unlocked! World 2 completed!
No thanks.
Gameplay should be a lot more important than trying to get obscure achievements.
Mario doesn’t really have a lot of little things here and there that are unnecessary for completion to attach achievements to.
Co-op is a bad idea for many adventure games and platformers, this one included. It would require an entire redesign of many levels and gameplay. Many levels are open for the player to try to complete one of the many goals in the level. If the players aren’t working together it can just become a race to try to complete different goals.
I agree completely. I mean look at the wii, look how colorful this game is, it needs to be much darker and gloomier. They also need more guns, take a look at Gears of War and Halo, those games know what they are doing, if nintendo was smart they would add some cool stuff to mario like drugs and guns.
1) You’re wrong.
2) You’re joking.
3) It’s a single player game.
Okay, if mario would be “better” on the 360
why the hell has m$ not produced such a game series?
Yeah
Thats right
they cannot
Hehehe, thanks thedeal, you gave me a good chuckle.
I play my PC these days instead of my Xbox.
Why? Because, and this is a big one, its not 2005 anymore.
Enjoy your 10 year life cycle on outdated hardware and camerafied waggle that you’ve been making fun of for oh so long.
Problems with this:
1. If was upped in the graphical department. I would have taken exponentially longer to produce. Because the core of the 360 fan base would care unless the textures were extremely high rez and the poly count was higher than the eye could see.
2. Achievement although nice to have, however they would be out of place. you collected 50 star ACHIEVEMENT. It probably would be worse than Dante’s Inferno that is paced in such a way that it give an achievement every 15 minutes.
3.Fanboyism, I am an owner of a 360 bought mine a year after launch. Enjoyed titles on it. But this article is almost entirely blatant fanboyism. Your beloved machine didn’t get a 10/10 exclusive so you are whining about it. 300+ titles not enough for you. Nintendo went the way they wanted. That was there choice but also remember that you spending and the spending of others cause the current gen game devs to move more towards shooters than platformers. You wanted Halo, Modern Warfare, Gears of war you got it. Lock, Stock and Barrels. Nintendo doesn’t have the third part support. They have to play up what they got. so continue to whine about it. I will enjoy my 360, and my Wii. I enjoy seeing what a company can do when limited. you can enjoy your next shooter with screen-tearing.
Yeah That will never happen and (sounding like a Fan Boy here) Rather see the games come to a end than watch them sell out like Sonic last thing we need is a Mario Game every year that sucks. XD also I have a 360 and its controler just doesn’t feel well for platformers.
Not every game needs to have a co op mode, the co-op in galaxy was made to appeal non gamers.
And HD would ruin the look of SMG 2, the game looks beautiful because the lack of graphical power on wii made the developers try harder.
Okay, I concede that the graphics could be better on Xbox 360, and I concede that the game would probably have a better co-op system on Xbox 360, but achievements would be completely redundant, considering all the actual content you unlock throughout the game. As well, with the current amount of respect Nintendo gets, bragging about beating a Mario game to your friends would not impress them.
Also, if you’ve play the game a lot, you start to realize that they’d have to completely alter how every single level worked to get true co-op to fit well in them. The levels are built specifically for one person to play in, and this is one of the reasons the game is so fun to play.
If you see any holes in my arguments (and I know somebody will), feel free to tell me them.
Ok I’m a ps3 fan and I’m fine with Xbox but it SHOULD NOT be on another console. I first started gaming playing Mario and I hate to think that it would someday be put on ps3 or Xbox. Its a Nintendo game it should stay a Nintendo game Xbox has plenty of good games so does ps3 though a lot of X-bros will argue with me. To be clear the only think I hate about Microsoft and the Xbox is how the company throws money around. That said Xbox is a good system so is ps3 and the Wii they tailor to different audiences and a lot of Xbox player I know which most of my friend play the system would not play it they would be busy playing there shooters and other games. Im pretty certain It would just go mostly wasted.
Dear God, this is the worst post ever.
WHA! WHA! WHAAAAAA!
Mario and Zelda being dragged down with Nintendo? Excuse me for a second, werent you XBOX’ers behind us?
This is fail. We PWND you without having the better graphics! That’s a double fail.
In the end, it all comes down to innovation. And Microsoft may try, but they are never going to get close to Nintendo.
In fact, Natal indicates that we won. First babbeling about how we suck with our crappy graphics, then following us in our tracks. I couldn’t come up with a bigger compliment then that.
Mario has allways been a indicator of quality, Zelda and Metroid too. Now it’s not that Microsoft is bad or something.
In fact, Natal is quite original. I applaud that, and hope to see that line continued in the future.
What I’d like to have stopped is the moron who is writing this article.
See, fanboyism isn’t bad. But if you do it, come up with GOOD ARGUMENTS witch support your opinion.
In fact, I’m not going to complain about the XBOX or Microsoft, I’ll just talk about Nintendo. I suggest you do that too, and stop whining about things that will never happen.
All three points are invalid.
“Well, it would just look better…”. Yeah. It’ll look better on the 360. But guess what? It’d look even better on the PS3. Or a PC. Or a Wii emulator with HD output. That’s right, an emulation of the Wii can look better than the Wii itself.
“A sense of achievement”. I believe getting all the stars would count as “an achievement”. It was like that on the other Super Mario games with Stars, so why change it for a sequel?
“Co-operation is key”. Co-operation in a Mario game is pretty damn unlikely. That’s like Modern Warfare 2 being a wholesome online experience where the only players online are people who could buy it with their own money and no-one exploits glitches for prestige.
I don’t particularly know why I’m making this post, since it’s obviously a troll topic and is meant to garner reactions from Wii and PS3 fans (and boot-licks from 360 fans), but fuck it, I’m bored.
Besides which, isn’t the 360 for twitch shooter games, the odd RPG and online filled with 10-year old Americans who swear like how’s-yer-father, and aren’t very cool for cats?
Possibly one of the most idiotic things I’ve read in my life.
1. Graphics don’t matter, particularly when artistic design as good as Galaxy’s is involved.
2. Achievements? Seriously?! If you play games, and take things seriously, you do it because you enjoy it. If you wanna play games for the simple reason of increasing the number of points you have on an online account (which will probably no longer exist in 5 years), then don’t you even think about talking video games.
3. This isn’t a fault of the Wii. Miyamoto straight up stated that they couldn’t get co-op working because of the camera (he didn’t want to do split-screen), as well as the planetoid jumping aspect of the game.
*sigh* I ‘spose I shouldn’t expect much from this site.
bomby: Dragged down? Have you played Mario Galaxy 1/2, Super Paper Mario, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Metroid Prime Trilogy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Zelda: Twilight Princess? In what way is this ruining them? In fact, in what way is leading the console market by millions of sold units bringing ruin?
If it was on 360 the system would probably red ring anyway.
Personally it wouldn’t be the graphics or achievements as to why I’d like it on 360 rather than the controller. The wiimote set-up is fine but I’d prefer a normal control scheme for Mario’s 3D outings a la Mario 64…
yes i have played them, but us 18 year olds dont really appreciate games like that. the gamecube and the dreamcast has titles that where much further in quality than anything the wii has released. excuse me for wanting a nintendo that makes quality games for all audiances, youv managed to to name about 7 good titles out a few hundred, gems in a long line of absolute crap that nintendo releases that nintendo fanboys lap up.
Jesus christ. So many Wii ‘fans’ on an Xbox site. They mad.
Yeah, and Pro Evo Soccer is funnier on Wii. ¿Do yoy play with graphics? Because i don’t, i play with Mario and his non perfect cap looks awesome to me.
well, at least they took the bait.
Achievements should be renamed bragging-rights, why on earth would i need to tell people on the other side of the world that i done some stupid little task
yesterday I read this bit on G4 about BioWare developing the Legend of Zelda and I had to give my 3 cents… Now this….
Ok, for the record I own all 3 systems ( can look my name up, haven’t been on for a while been playing MH tri) but people can dream but the only thing you have in your post here is the HD Mario bit.
Lord, I use to kill achievements, but in the end I noticed it wasn’t bringing me to some higher plateau, I find it more as a guide to reach certain areas or items I didn’t have. Some people if not a good bit play a games and get the amount of achievement points and stop playing the game.
co-op in a 3D mario… that would be something only siggy would have to think up, and it would have to work flawless not some shit that a you mentioned.
Funny you mention friend codes, you know the largest wireless company in the world RIM ( Blackberry) they have a messenger system free IM chat like live but as long as you have someone’s PIN and they have yours, then you can be “friends”. Same thing nintendo has, in effect I would like only if the nintendo network showed you which friends are online and a shorter friends code or an easier way to get friends. But I do notice the users on their network aren’t as retarded as most of the kids on Live that utter pure BS with hate.
You have only brought the notion of HD to the table, and that is a given with the next Nintendo system but for now the artistic level and graphical level of SMG2 is way ahead of anything in 480P. So the little bit of res will not be much of a bump.
Maybe you should of started your post as: 3 reasons I would like to see the next installment of SMG3 on the next nintendo system( but this is a 360 site so I guess that would be a fail lol). Putting it on the 360 doesn’t add much.
HD – OK
Achievements – NO
Online/Live – NO
LOL, ACHIEVEMENTS
I’m guessing this article is meant to poke fun at all the diehard 360 fans who insist everything is better on it. I hope.
I really hope that this is supposed to be satire; it is just sad if it isn’t. Achievements are just an artificial manner of extending gameplay. The only way Mario would benefit by using another console would be the graphics, but this is a Mario game and anyone who cares about graphics or a story in those is insane.
What is this article talkin about? 360 fanboys angry because the game of the decade came on a cheap console? the cheap console that set the standards for being copyed by ps3 and 360 with move and natal? man believe me, i’m not a great wii lover, but mario galaxy could have been made only by nintendo and only on wii.
Hmm.. I would love to see this guy trying to collect 9999 star bits to unlock the perfect run for grandmaster galaxy on the xbox 360.. oh cause that’s right.. you can’t point and collect.. can’t point and shoot the ground either to call up a coin when a boss is trying to squash you.. can’t point and do a single thing. Heck.. think this guy would kinda be stuck on the first level if SMG2 was on Xbox360.
This is an article that wasn’t even thought out. Seriously if people cared about graphics.. WHY IS THE WII OUTSELLING BOTH PS3 AND XBOX 360.. seriously.. mario does not need to be in HD.. I doubt nintendo is holding back Mario and Zelda considering they can think outside the box instead of pick up left over ideas. Natal was shown to nintendo first and PS Move is a rip off of Wii so let’s face it.. nintendo ain’t holding back anything.
And seriously? Co-op? Ok.. think about what co-op through xbox live or any online network would be like? Have you ever even thought about it. Don’t say stupid things like “IT’S XBOX LIVE SO IT’S BETTER” without thinking of a design. The whole point of the co-op was so that a family can sit together and still enjoy the game. Also they promised the levels would be harder cause that’s what the fans wanted and they promised it so they added this version of the co-op so that the 2nd player can effectively help the first player whether it’s to collect a coin to restore life or pause an electric barrier.
Go think about your stupid comments over before posting on any site again.
@Bomby:
“yes i have played them, but us 18 year olds dont really appreciate games like that. the gamecube and the dreamcast has titles that where much further in quality than anything the wii has released. excuse me for wanting a nintendo that makes quality games for all audiances, youv managed to to name about 7 good titles out a few hundred, gems in a long line of absolute crap that nintendo releases that nintendo fanboys lap up.”
First off, I bet you’re actually 12 years old. I mean, you can’t spell! Now don’t be replying to this trying to act smart and all, because I know you probably went to a dictionary or did it on Microsoft Word so it can fix all your errors for you.
Second, let’s take apart your comment, piece by piece, where I can point out the flaws in every sentence that you wrote, along with some kind of grammatical error. By the way, I’m not here to teach you English. Go back to school, kid.
“the gamecube and the dreamcast has titles that where much further in quality than anything the wii has released.”
I went to gamerankings.com and compared the top 10 list on the Gamecube and Dreamcast to the top 10 on the Wii. The highest for the Gamecube was Metroid Prime (as a comment, that was a really good game) with a 96% rating. Also, this game wasn’t made by Nintendo – it was made by Retro Studios. The Dreamcast’s top game was Soul Calibur with a 97% rating. Twas a really good fighting game, but the repeating formula was there. The next best was a Tony Hawk game that was released for all consoles at that time. The Wii’s top game is Super Mario Galaxy with a 97%, made by Nintendo, and the next game is Super Mario Galaxy 2, with a 97% again. And it’s made by Nintendo! Your comment of games on the Gamecube and Dreamcast is factually wrong. It’s just your opinion. A more appropriate comment that you can write is: “I believe that the games released on the Gamecube and Dreamcast were far superior to the ones released on the Wii because…” and then you would list your reasons. But, you didn’t.
Next up, this comment:
“excuse me for wanting a nintendo that makes quality games for all audiances”
Thanks for the compliment, but if you want a NINTENDO game, perhaps you need to buy a NINTENDO console to play it. That makes sense, right? Just by wanting it to be on another console doesn’t make it possible in any sort of way. Video games are a competitive market, not some company dedicated to throwing games at the public so you can have fun. Perhaps this sentence would be better: “Super Mario Galaxy 2 was a fantastic game, and I think it should be released on the Xbox 360 for these reasons. [reasons go here, but once again, you failed to supply any] Also, I do not believe this game was aimed towards all audiences, including myself, because [blahblahblah reasons that you failed to write down].”
I’m beginning to see a trend from you here.
On to the next one:
“youv managed to to name about 7 good titles out a few hundred”
Once again, going to gamerankings.com there are two pages games that are ranked 79% and above. Two pages with 50 games on each page. That’s about 100 games. Some of them are released for multiple consoles, but this simply proves that I can name 100 titles out of 100. I can’t correct this statement because I am factually correct according to this website.
Do do dooo…:
“gems in a long line of absolute crap that nintendo releases that nintendo fanboys lap up.”
The great Miyamoto once said “A delayed game is eventually good, a bad game is bad forever.” It takes time to make a quality game that isn’t a rehash of the last. “but wut about SMG and SMG2 – theyre the same thing!!1!” you might ask. Compare the levels. Completely different. There’s more stuff to do than just get a new weapon and shoot more stuff in it, like many people have seen in about EVERY sequel of a FPS game.
Long line of absolute crap? Are you f***ing mad? This is the inner-fanboy coming out as I have mentioned in my earlier post. I don’t even want to go through all the Mario games made by Nintendo and show how high their ratings are. Plus, ever heard of a game called Super Mario Bros.? One of the first platformers, but regarded as one of the best games of all time if you ever look at top 100 lists? You’ll always find it within the top 15, of course, if you look at a company reviewing a game, not a fanboy like yourself.
Oh, before I finish, I forgot a line from the very beginning.
“18 year olds dont really appreciate games like that.”
Cause you can speak for the millions of teenagers that live in a modern society that played THIS exact game right? For all you know, you could be one of the few that do not enjoy this game. You saying that “18 year olds dont really appreciate games like that” is absolute bull****.
Here’s a bit of an English lesson, for my sake. “I, as an eighteen year old male, do not enjoy this game because of the following reasons…”
But seeing as you failed to mention the reasons you don’t enjoy it, I would probably give you a 1/10 for your work. 1 is for the effort, since I can see as a 12 year old you obviously tried your best to look like you were old enough to be playing mature games.
Go back to yelling “hacker” or “nub” on your headset whenever someone kills you kid. You’re not old enough to be on the actual internet yet.
1) This one I agree with, but technically it should be “On a HD TV”. Play this game on a 480p/i TV? One of the best looking games of the generation. 720 & 1080p TVs make it look bad because of the TV being in HD. If you play a 360 or PS3 on a 480p/i TV, it looks like SMG2 on an HD TV.
#2 & 3 as already been done for me from other commenters.
it would be worse on 360 because it would no longer be a nintendo game, which would defeat the purpose. No matter how many amazing games come out for Wii, morons like the person who wrote this article still believe it isn’t worth their respect simply due to a lack of the HD gimmick some of the other platforms this gen have adopted. what ever. Hope you have a good time ignorantly hating on the Wii when a wii exclusive game gets GOTY. again.
In response to everyone who has had a go at me for my posts…Way to feed the trolls guys. It is simple to tell that this is a troll post meant to get a reaction from wii fans, which it obviously has, and its just a case of me playing along, and chief, no need to be like that, i didnt mean what i wrote, no need to have make assumptions about my age, i am 18 you know.
and now for my real opinion.
honestly i dont see the point of moving SMG 2, even on the wii, it looks brilliant in standard def, and the inclusion of achievments wouldnt really add to its appeal, its the story and gameplay that make it, and its amazingly brilliant, the only thing that would improve mario from being on the 360 would be the chance to play it with a 360 pad, since im not a big fan of the wii remote, but since this is a personal preference, and since its possible you can use the gamecube pad(though i dont know that as a fact, i may look it up), i doubt its a problem.
Haha, which spastic posted this on /v/?
Nice bait though. Good fun seeing Wii fanboys get angry.
still, anybody with half a brain can see its just trolling, which makes me sad for gamings future.
Oh boy, this article makes me so excited! I can’t wait for Grand Theft Mushroom!
A lot of people bash the Wii for its shovelware, but that shovelware exists because of the gimmick controller. Now think, Microsoft is getting Kinect. Wait for FPS Shovelware to show up.
I THINK SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2 WOULD COME OUT ON XBOX360 MAYBE EARLY/LATE NEXT YEAR BUT IT’S ONLY FOR WII BUT IL TELL THEM IF THEY LET SUPER MARIO GALAXY1AND2 ON THE XBOX360 BUT FOR NOW PLAY SUPER MARIO GALAXY 2 ON THE WII AND TELL ME SOME TIPS ABOUT BANJO KAZOOIE NUTS&BOLTS I GOT PASSED ONE STAGE ON BANJO KAZOOIE NUTS AND BOLTS BUT UNFORTUNLEY MY DAD BROKE MY FULL GAME BANJO KAZOOIE NUTS AND BOLTS SO PLEASE ANSWER AND WHEN YOU FINISH BANJO KAZOOIE NUTS AND BOLTS PLLLLLLLLLLEASE GIVE IT TO ME IM ONLY DONT GIVE ME IT I GET PRETTY UPSET!
1.SUPER MARIO GALAXY ACHIEVEMENTS YES
2. PAL YES
3.XBOX LIVE YES
Totally agree.
As for the Xbox lacking exclusive games this year, LMFAO….
Last I checked I’m far more looking forward to Codename Kingdoms, Forza Motorsport 4, Gears of War Exile & Gears of War 3 and those are all pretty much 360 exclusives…..
This year that have nearly been all but confirmed.
No, the reason I agree is that Mario Galaxy while not in fact the “best” game – - Would in FACT be much better on 360 with split-screen co-op. Not an opinion. But a fact. If it was to come to pass it would be hundreds of times better to use Kinect “free motion” click style.
It would only happen if Nintendo went back to handhelds, sure. But it would still be a better game on the system with HD, can’t deny that.
