Why Rez 2 Is Better On 360

And lo, things got rather exciting! Running a close second behind the announcement of Shenmue III and perhaps that Sega is re-entering the console market, our top two perennial E3 wishes, our wish for a second Rez followed a limp third in years gone by, destined to failure about as surely as Wile E. Coyote. Happily though, last night that wish came true.
Announced across both PS3 and 360, it genuinely looks set to offer greater thrills on the lime green side of the fence. For starters, Mizaguchi’s original title was primarily concerned with removing as much of the barrier between player and game as possible. One button to fire, one for overdrive. Things could hardly have been simpler. Until now, that is – Microsoft’s Kinect removing that one final barrier to your granny leaping off the sofa to join in. She won’t want to wave a wand about, man.
The lack of any established control interface at all will lend the experience a certain majesty it wouldn’t otherwise have, too. Imagine the first time you shot dead a hired goon in GoldenEye with your fresh, for all intents and purposes gun-shaped controller. Or reeled in that initial giant Bass using the Dreamcast’s fishing reel. Heck, even that moment you first realised that rudimentarily animated drawing of Sonic up on screen was being controlled by your fingers, and wasn’t just some boring regular programme.
The only potential downside’s DLC. Just look at Lumines Live. Think positive thoughts…
