Why Can't Mario Appear on 360?

Today’s post was going to be an in-depth discussion of some buring issue of the day but sadly, seeing as the games industry has decided that 1% of Christmas beats owning 100% of July 19th, we’re going to have to switch formats, albeit briefly.

It is a matter of some dismay to us that titles the calibre of the quite superb Super Mario Galaxy 2 never make it to our favourite console. Yes, shooting the head clean off some 14-year-old from Ohio has its charms, but the fact platformers seem to have died a death outside of Nintendo’s jurisdiction makes us sad. And not just a sprite with frony faces on it, either.

The truth is, those who may dismiss experiences such as mario’s latest on grounds of art choices or its score are denying themselves quite the innovative rollercoaster ride. The amount of variation achieved with a practically identical suite of moves compared to Mario 64, each fifteen minute block feeling almost a separate title, proves that blockbuster entertainment nowadays doesn’t have to come at the end of an AK-47 rifle.

And to think, all we’re getting is Kinectimals…

PS3 and Xbox 360 still have platformers. PS3 has Little Big Planet and Ratchet and Clank series, whilst Xbox has Kameo. Whilst they’re not in as great a magnatude as Nintendo platforms they are still around if you look hard enough

Just a heads up author. You sounds silly in this article. It’s like asking why can’t Coke sell Pepsi?

because Mario is owned by Nintendo, a competitor. therefore you’ll never see Mario on a Microsoft console same way you’ll never have blu-ray for the xbox360 or 720 or w/e other console they make, cuz it’s owned by Sony. Get a Wii.

Hey Dave clearly you have missed out on a ton of platformers on the 360. Just check the XBLA and Indie Games sections and you will find tons of platformers.

I highly recommend the Indie Game called Apple Jack. It’s like mixing Mario 2 with Bust-a-Move.

Then of course there was Shadow Complex which is a hybrid platformer with more action and RPG elements similar to Castlevania: SOTN.

There was actually a new indie game just released called Super Avatar World which is a very Mario-esque game and it’s actually not half bad. The original music is nice as well.

Anyway it’s a shame someone posting an article on a gaming site is not aware of all the platformers and other genre games available on the Xbox system. Are you a true gamer or just the casual type that doesn’t take the time to explore all the console has to offer?

Anyway be sure to check out the XBLA games and the Indie Games for your platforming fix. I’m sure you’ll find a good one to satisfy you.

It’s not a literal question, morons.

Why is the 360 so shooter focussed?
